Click to hear this poem read: www.atheena.com/poetry/kittenstapshoes.mp3Possessing inner strength, He is known as a calm and gentle man, Keeping things in balance He wields dually, both the charms of edged steel and velvet. She will pretend to be his kitten, Concerned only with her wanting to play and sleep nestled tightly on his velvet. Yet, she remains ever watchful to avoid The steel of the blade which has destroyed twice before. He reaches to pet her velvety fur, as she tap dances, freely by his side and entwines him with the tickling tautness of a slow satiny smile. Yet he too must stay aware, For under all the simplified aloofness, this kitten clicks lightly on tiny tapping talons of steel.
