Helia scooped up her wolf pup Patti in her arms, and gave her a little bounce.
“Good girl Patti, here we go.”
Stepping through the shimmering surface of the moongate, she re-appeared in a courtyard with high sandstone walls. To her right and left were large gates.
Patti whimpered.
“I don’t think we are in Kansas any more Patti girl. In fact, we are in Luna.”
Looking around, Tomoe was nowhere to be found.
“Well, at least WE are in Luna,” Helia sighed.
“I knew your mother…” came a voice from behind Helia, who whirled around with a start.
“Pardon?”
Helia stared up at a graceful woman, sitting atop an enormous horse. Her grace, however, belied the strength of the well muscled body, like a dancers, beneath her leather armor.
“I said, I knew your mother. Hello…my name is Kameko…and you would be little Helia all grown up….”
Lunchtime found both Helia and puppy Patti enjoying the cool ocean breeze that blew across the porch of Kameko’s Zento City home. On the corner of the porch Patti licked her muzzle as she enjoyed the first meal she had in a while. Helia turned as Kameko came onto the porch caring a large bundle in her arms.
“Wow, said Helia as she looked around in amazement, it’s more beautiful than I had heard about…the cherry blossoms, the small brooks all around town, the graceful black ceramic tile roofs…I have never seen anything like it!”
“It’s a beautiful place alright…and growing all the time.”
The bulky bundle made a soft “thump” as Kameko set it down on the white marble porch.
“Already the town has five homes, and even more people staying at the inn. There's even a half elf living on the east side of town. You might want to look up Dusti Rose who lives by the main gate on the east side of town...she is a carpenter...if you live here you will eventually need her services. She makes beautiful oriental furniture. By the way, I am sorry about your friend Tomoe…I am sure she will be alright. You may have lost track of one friend, but you have found another…I am always happy to help!”
Kameko opened her large bundle and began pulling out the most exquisite leather armor she had ever seen. Garment after garment came out of the bag. Each was the deepest royal blue that Helia had ever seen. An entire wardrobe came out of the bag. Soon the porch of the large white marble house was “littered” with the oriental armor and clothing.
“This armor will help you start out, said Kameko with a smile, and if you are anything like your mother, you will be going to some very dangerous places!”
